【摘要】:Itisnecessarytoknowthedistributionofparticlesizesofgranularactivatedcarboninordertoprovidepropercontactofgasesorliquidinapackedbedofthematerial.Changesinparticlesizedistributioncanaffectthepressuredropacrossthebedandtherateofadsorptioninabedofagivensize.Meanparticlediameterisapropertyofactivatedcarbonsthatinfluencespressuredrop.Effectivesizeanduniformitycoefficientaretwopropertiesofactivatedcarbonsoftenofinterestinmunicipalwatertreatmentapplicationswherecontrolofparticlesizeisofinterest.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheparticlesizedistributionofgranularactivatedcarbon.Forthepurposesofthistest,granularactivatedcarbonisdefinedasaminimumof90%ofthesampleweightbeingretainedona180-956;mStandardsieve.AU.S.mesh80sieveisequivalenttoa180-956;mStandardsieve.Note18212;Forextrudedcarbons,asthelength/diameterratiooftheparticlesincreases,thevalidityofthetestresultsmightbeaffected.1.2Thedataobtainedmayalsobeusedtocalculatemeanparticlediameter(MPD),effectivesize,anduniformitycoefficient.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
